Sundance Cinemas Independent Film Center Design with The Moderns
Preservation and safeguarding the generation of new ideas, new environments and new voices was paramount in the design concepts behind Sundance Cinemas Independent Film centers. Various projects were slated for locations such as Pennsylvania, Oregon, California, among other states. These were intended to augment and support the celebrated Sundance Cinemas venue and festivals in Park City, Utah via off-site ‘satellite’ venues.
While consulting for The Moderns, design responsibilities addressed two primary sites, one for Portland OR, and another for Philadelphia PA, located adjacent to the University of Pennsylvania. Shown here are design concepts for the Philadelphia Independent Film Center. This project largely addressed indoor/outdoor definition of spaces (associated work with award winning design office Danadjieva & Koenig Associates). Sustainable materials are specified throughout, concept and branding is fully integrated, and a consistent and dedicated appreciation for the independent spirit through creative work is readily apparent.
